Personal Potentials - 761 Words

I made my decision on the information I was given on the individual on their potential in life. I made my decision based off of this because I feel like the priority was to give higher chance of survival for those who still had potential and more a life to live. I would first save the 30 year old nurse that is pregnant. She has so much to live for and is pregnant. It is important to me to save her and her child first due to two lives being endangered. The next person I would save is the 16 year old. She is my next priority due to her being a minor. The next person I chose is the 21 year old who is graduating from Duke University and is hoping to go to medical school. He has a lot of high hopes and potential in his future. He is also an†¦show more content†¦The 16 year old is a minor and still needs to be saved regardless of her religious preference and family background. The nightclub business owner would be next, regardless of everything, he is the father of the unborn chil d. The wall street broker would be next. He is the father of two young kids that need him. The Eagle scout would be next. The widow remains last. It goes back to the reason that she has lived a longer life than everyone else and cannot contribute to anything, regardless of any other circumstances. This exercise was very different and difficult for me. I learned that I fully should get to know an individual, their background, and their circumstance before labeling them or rating them. Also, you never know what people are going through and the hardships they may have. It is important that we do not jump to conclusions like I did when I found out the widow was a murderer. The more you are able to learn about someone, the more you understand the individual and not continue to be judgemental. This relates to worldview by showing all the sides of an individual and circumstances. Regardless of our beliefs, gender, race, and other back qualities, we are equal. The more we learn, the more it opens up our eyes. Our attitudes should not change due to someones qualities that are out of their control. Our attitudes and perceptions are part of our worldview.
